At the core of many of our anxieties is a yearning for certainty - the basic human need to feel in control. To know we can steer away from pain and go towards joy.
Those of us grappling with anxiety often fear the future, and find it difficult to feel like it holds anything good for us.
The way to begin shifting this uncertainty into positive expectation is to deliberately plan out things to look forward to.
This can be as simple as making a list. The list can include literally anything that makes you feel open towards the hour or day or weeks or years ahead of you, instead of closed.
For example, you can write things as little as, having an espresso, going for a walk in nature, or watching a movie today to things as big as, earning a PHD or becoming enlightened.
